Check Point has updated its ZoneAlarm Mobile Security app with content filtering. The new version strengthens protection against phishing, malicious websites, and unsafe networks for iOS, Android, and Apple silicon Macs.

Onboarding and initial setup

The app begins by requesting notification permissions. It then guides users through enabling a Safari extension. Once activated, the extension checks websites before they load to help protect browsing sessions. The app suggests granting permission for all sites to maintain continuous protection, though users can modify these settings later.

An initial scan checks device configuration, operating system status, SMS phishing protection, and signs of tampering. Results appear immediately, displaying the last scan time and any detected issues.

Web protection and link scanning

The app’s Link Scanning feature allows users to paste URLs or scan QR codes before opening them. Each scan provides a verdict—safe, suspicious, or malicious—along with a risk level and website category. During testing, a standard Google URL was marked as safe and classified as a search engine with a low risk rating.

Users can report false positives or dismiss results. The feature works with Content Filtering, which blocks websites by category. Available groups include Security, Inappropriate Content, Streaming and File Sharing, Social and Gaming, and General Web Content. Each category includes configurable subcategories, allowing users to tailor filtering to their requirements.

Network security and additional features

The Network section monitors encryption integrity, browsing encryption, and Wi-Fi encryption. It includes a background security monitor, Wi-Fi Network Advisor, browser compatibility mode, and an option to extend web protection beyond Safari.

The interface is well-organized. The app provides phishing and link protection, and a full content filtering system with a wide selection of configurable categories and subcategories. Combined with QR code scanning, network security checks, and background monitoring, it offers a solid set of tools for users looking to strengthen their mobile security.

Real-time scanning helps prevent threats before they load. ZoneAlarm Mobile Security is available for download on the App Store and Google Play. The update is rolling out now at no extra cost for existing users.
