SUSE is refining its approach to the Indian market with a sharper focus on digital sovereignty and enterprise AI. The company announced new platforms at SUSE Summit Mumbai 2026 intended to assist organizations in deploying AI workloads. The core objective is retaining greater control over data, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

Indian enterprises are currently prioritizing sovereign technology infrastructure. They are preparing to transition generative AI projects from pilot programs to full-scale production. SUSE’s report indicates that 62% of Indian organizations are actively investing in digital sovereignty, which is higher than the global average. This trend is driven by the need for greater control over data and infrastructure.

90% of Indian IT leaders anticipate an increase in AI budgets. Despite this financial confidence, many organizations struggle to build the secure infrastructure required for large-scale AI deployments.

New Platform Integrates NVIDIA AI

To address these infrastructure gaps, SUSE introduced the SUSE AI Factory with NVIDIA. This platform is designed to help enterprises construct private AI environments. It combines NVIDIA AI Enterprise software with SUSE’s open-source infrastructure and governance framework. The company stated that the offering enables organizations to run AI workloads within environments controlled by the customer.

This architecture assists in meeting data governance and regulatory requirements without relying on external public clouds. Alongside the AI platform, SUSE expanded its enterprise infrastructure portfolio. The company has integrated Linux, Kubernetes, edge computing, and multi-cloud management into a unified platform.

The stack is engineered to help organizations manage workloads consistently across on-premises infrastructure, public clouds, and edge environments. It also supports compliance with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and guidelines from CERT-In. Local regulations and security concerns are forcing a shift toward on-premise and hybrid models.

This trend mirrors a broader movement where data locality outweighs the convenience of centralized, third-party managed services which often leads to vendor lock-in and higher costs over time. It highlights the need for India’s tech corridor to focus on open-source solutions.

Unified Infrastructure Stack

Organisations need to own their intelligence, where their models run and how their data is governed, said Rhys Oxenham, Vice President and General Manager of AI at SUSE. Marshal Correia, Country Manager for India and SAARC at SUSE, highlighted demand from specific sectors.

Enterprises across banking, manufacturing, and the public sector are increasingly seeking open infrastructure. These organizations require architectural flexibility while simultaneously meeting strict compliance requirements. They are looking for solutions that can support their growth in AI and digital sovereignty.

Rising Demand for Sovereign Tech

The announcement arrives as India solidifies its position as a key market for sovereign AI and enterprise infrastructure investments. Over the past year, global technology companies have adjusted their strategies to suit the region.

Anthropic introduced in-country AI inference capabilities through Amazon Bedrock to address data residency requirements. Similarly, IBM expanded its AI consulting and delivery footprint with a new FutureNow Centre in Visakhapatnam. The Indian government is also active in this space through the IndiaAI Mission.

This initiative aims to bolster the country’s digital capabilities. Concurrently, enterprises in regulated sectors are increasing investments in private AI, multi-cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity. These investments are necessary for supporting production-scale AI deployments that demand reliability and security.

The company’s new offerings are available immediately to support these efforts. The unified platform supports standard hardware configurations found in most data centers. SUSE continues to update its software to match changing regulatory standards in the region, which is essential for Indian IT growth.

It is a critical step towards achieving digital sovereignty and supporting the growth of AI in India.
